Position Description:


Medicines Development Information and Digital Solutions (MD IDS) serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories partnering with the Medicines Development Unit (MDU).

The MDU focuses on taking potential marketable products from Research through product registration and approval. MD IDS focuses on the MDU business needs of the future, enabling improvements through information and technology solutions.

The teams define and influence information and business strategies, design and develop solutions to achieve the strategic outcomes, and ensure reliable deployment and support of these solutions.


To help meet the increasing demand for Product Delivery capabilities within MD IDS Lilly, we are looking to hire talented Solution Architect in Lilly Capability Center in India.

The Solution Architect will understand, lead, and drive the technology and architecture discussions across the Product delivery platform, with particular focus on one of the critical assets in the portfolio.

He/she will have a deep understanding of business goals, objectives, and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes.

The SA will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks needed to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.

Key Objectives/Deliverables

  • Lead requirements capturing exercises, understanding the "what" and "why" from a business perspective before figuring out technology "how". Partner with internal and external technical teams to understand and influence the appropriate menu of technologies and tools to be used for solution delivery efforts.
  • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs (focused on detailed design principles, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT) to help the architecture review board assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate.
  • Analyses the businessIT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement.
  • Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.

Required Technical Skills

  • Good experience in process improvement/change management methods
  • Knowledge of various aspects of an enterprise technology architecture like business, information, data, network, and security
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, agile software development, rapid prototyping, and DevOps)
  • Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Excellent analytical, planning, organizational and technical and skills
  • Skilled at influencing, guiding, and facilitating stakeholders and peers with decision making
  • Ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to understand the longterm ("big picture") and shortterm perspectives of situations

Additional Technical Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of different modelling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate)
  • Information security and vulnerability risk management
  • Knowledge of reporting in SSRS, PowerBI
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (Korber HighJump Software, RedPrairie (JDA), Manhattan Associates, SAP
  • WM, Oracle-WM, Accellos, Infor, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Informatica or data movement t
