The Opportunity:

This position is responsible for managing 10+ highly available Oracle clusters across geographically different datacenters. Ensure that availability, scalability, and uptime requirements of database services are clearly understood and addressed. Evaluate progress and results of development efforts. Preserve the integrity and design of mission-critical databases necessary for business operations.

Work under mínimal supervision to produce deliverables in alignment with overall transformation programs, demonstrating mastery of skills in area of sub specialization.


You are great at:


  • Provide proactive knowledge and act as an escalation point for Engineering, Service Support, and Service Delivery teams.
  • Resolve issues & incidents within defined SLAs.
  • Proactively work with vendors & providers on issues identified in products and chase issues until successful resolution.
  • Independently implement approved medium and largescale projects that align towards service and departmental goals.
  • Lead, coordinate, and manage all aspects of database implementation.
  • Oversee the direction, development, and implementation of database software solutions.
  • Participate in the design process of new databases, and strategies.
  • Manage design sessions within areas of specialization.
  • Manage delivery of solution within area of specialization, or independently design and implement complex solutions.
  • Manage solution offerings to solve complex integrated business problems.
  • Manage relationships with counterparts including functional owners or work streams
  • Manage the timely resolution of issues within work stream.
  • Own technology solution within respective area of subexpertise including overall design, key decisions, and relations with business owners.
  • Provide direction for the DBA team in support of database operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to the enterprise, act as single point of contact for DBA related issues.
  • Coordinate with systems administrators, network engineers, and other teams towards availability, reliability, and scalability of database environments
  • Recommend and execute modifications to database infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Keep current with related technologies and releases.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment and software upgrades.
  • Work offhours escalation as part of a pagerrotation shift or an emergency with 10 minutes of Response Time.
  • Ensure completeness and quality of all deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and standards to meet compliances, availability and disaster recovery, acting as an escalation point for project team members to provide issue resolution.
  • Document technology deployments by creating Standard Operating Procedures, training guides. Train coworkers and other members of Operations staff.
  • Train new hires & NOC engineers on technology implementation and ensure quick on boarding of new hires.

What it takes:


  • BE in CS/EE with a minimum 8 years of experience as hands on as Oracle DBA.
  • Excellent understanding of Oracle technologies and related product / technologies used in replication such has GoldenGate.
  • Current OCP certification
  • Must have worked in services with 99.995% or more uptime/SLA.
  • Worked in services requiring 10 minutes of Response Time to Incidents including experience in carrying oncall rotation pager.
  • Experience in implementing local recovery and disaster recovery
  • Must have worked on databases systems with more than 10TB of storage on Oracle RAC.
  • Working experience with Oracle 19c & 12c RAC with Active-Active setups utilizing Oracle Goldengate.
  • Experienced with using Oracle Grid Control to include management of OMS and deployment of agents, use of performance and tuning package, tuning of database metrics.
  • Hands on experience with GoldenGate, DataGuard to include performance tuning and diagnostics/remedy of issues.
  • Must have working experience with scripting and automation.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS as it applies to Oracle products.
  • Experience in designing and implementing monitoring of databases and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of MSSQL, Postgres, and Hadoop database will be advantage.
  • Proven experience in database infrastructure planning and development.
  • Indepth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and compliances such as PCI, SAS70.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
