  • Investigation of realtime pre trade and daily violations generated to mitigate risk and ascertain the reason for any breaches / exceptions.
  • Communication with the relevant business areas for breach resolution and breach logging.
  • Investigate temporary exemptions and special exemptions. Maintain, report and review the exemptions register on a monthly basis.
  • Support breach reporting and production of MI reporting to key stakeholders and committees
  • Assist in Compliance related projects and initiatives.
  • Effectively find solutions to compliance issues as they arise
  • Liaising and working with BlackRock Solutions (BRS) on Aladdin issues and requirements


Controls & Assurance Team within M&G Plc is a part of COO - Global Controls Team which supports the Asset Management business covering fund/ portfolio onboarding, pre and post trade mandate monitoring, ensuring investment transactions and holdings are compliant with client guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Monitoring team has been split into 3 sub functions;

Pre Trade violations monitoring :

This team is responsible to monitor the day to day pre trade violations in the dashboard and take corrective actions to approve or reject the trade before it is executed in the market.

This is a time sensitive activity and involves very high interactions with Portfolio Managers, Investment trading group along with internal compliance teams.


Post Trade violations monitoring :

This team is responsible for Timely investigation and reporting of Overnight/Post-trade violations to mitigate risk and ascertain the reason for any breaches / exceptions.

Conduct of Business (COBs) monitoring : This team conduct periodic risk-based assessment of Equities Dealing Desk (EDD) FCA Conduct of Business (COBs) rule exceptions generated by the Dealing Operations (DO) team.

Review and challenge a sample of exception cases from the Dealing report categories i.e. Best Execution, Timely Release, Timely Execution, Timely Recording, Fair Allocation, Order Aggregation, Dealer Execution Commission, Post trade etc

  • Understanding of client mandates, IMAs, Fund Guidelines and Retail product documentation
  • Conduct investigation on various trade surveillance activities such as Trade allocations/sequencing, Market abuse practices, trade violations, and Market Surveillances majorly involving methods of Front running, Price Ramping, Wash trades, Market price manipulation, cross market surveillances etc. and appropriately establish sufficient risk controls in each of these models You'll monitor human trading for potential trading while in position of material nonpublic information.
  • Additionally, you'll conduct thorough analysis on the fundamental research data collected by the trading groups through their interactions with external industry experts/consultants around various market sectors to avoid potential trading while in possession of material nonpublic information. You'll review reports relating to trading activities to assist the firm in meeting its regulator obligations
  • Should be well versed with prevailing UK Regulations like
  • UCITS/ MIFID/ EMIR/ AIFMD/ ISDA/ FCA Conduct rules
  • Excellent technical knowledge on SQL/ BQL language
  • Asset management domain knowledge on Trade cycle of Equities, Fixed Income, Derivative, FoF, Structure products, Multi-Asset products
  • Provide support to the Fund Managers on queries relating to pre and post trade rules and exceptions.
