Description

Occupational therapists will have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

Conducting research to identify and evaluate new treatment approaches for common childhood motor conditions
Supervising the progress of students participating in the center
Collaborating with parents and caregivers to develop treatment plans that meet the child's needs
Evaluating children's developmental progress on an ongoing basis and recommending changes to treatment plans as needed
Providing treatment to children who have experienced traumatic events such as abuse or neglect
Conducting research on child development including children with disabilities
Working with parents and other caregivers to educate them about their child's condition and how to manage it at home
Teaching children proper posture, movement, and hygiene techniques to prevent injury and improve performance at home, school, and in recreational activities
Conducting physical examinations to assess a child's overall health status and determine if he or she is ready for new activities or equipment
