Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about empirical research and excited to take research to action.


Responsibilities and accountabilities

Research, project management and stakeholder engagement

  • Endtoend responsibility for the design and execution of a panIndia survey, including i) design, piloting and rollout of survey instruments, ii) devising robust sampling strategy, iii) coordination with the survey agency to ensure collection of highquality data and iv) maintaining strong documentation of the survey procedures and learnings.
  • Work with the team to analyse survey data to gather novel insights using advanced statistical and econometric models for various themes, such as energy access and consumer preferences concerning clean and energyefficient technologies.
  • Contribute to highquality first drafts of policy memos, reports and papers for journal submission, and lead on at least one such output.
  • Assist the team in disseminating research findings through bilateral briefings and highquality research reports, papers, memos, opinion pieces, videos, etc., to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • For specific projects, support and guide teams at CEEW on the design and execution of surveys, best practices for data collection and conducting econometric analysis.
  • Keep a tab on current debate/research on electricity demand and evolving consumer preferences in the national and global context and develop innovative ideas to better understand, monitor, and influence consumer behaviour concerning energy use in the country.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in economics, statistics, public policy, or related disciplines with rigorous training in econometrics.
  • Strong research background with an adequate understanding of research methods and quantitative techniques for data analysis.
  • Sound understanding of India's changing landscape of energy access, use and clean energy transition is desirable.

Work experience

  • At least 45 years of relevant work experience in the field of research and policy engagement.
  • Prior experience in survey design and execution, data analysis and writing research reports/papers is a must.
  • Strong track record of team and project management, including timely delivery of outputs.

Key skills

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Proficiency in R/Python/Stata and Excel for data analysis
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Insightful and concise writing in English
