Position summary


As a Senior Manager, you'll lead a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.

You will work with clients to formulate ESG strategy for their own operations and/or their supply chains.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for working closely with CCaSS leadership, Partners, and Senior Managers on client engagements, business development for the allotted regions, development of new solutions within the ESG solution pillar and managing a team of professionals within EY.


While the Senior Manager will be based out of our Gurgaon/Bangalore/Mumbai/Kolkata/Hyderabad office, the individual may in specific cases be required to travel to other countries (short term) for executing the client engagements.


Primary responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Winning in the market
  • Colead the new solution development under the ESG pillar
  • Develop and implement plans strategic to GDS CCaSS and global CCaSS that contributes to the business growth, recognizing the risks and opportunities of business/ commercial trends, in alignment with the Area/Regional CCaSS leaders and their market leadership plans (MLPs)
  • Represent GDS CCaSS services to our multiple regions and develop and maintain connections with the onshore practices of EY
  • Focus on developing solutions with technology and data analytics to drive efficiencies
  • Lead execution and ensure quality of the deliverable on following solutions under the ESG pillar:
  • ESG / Sustainability strategy
  • ESG Reporting and/or Assurance
  • ESG impact assessments
  • ESG due diligence
  • Supply chain sustainability
  • Biodiversity
  • Nature based solutions
  • Life Cycle Assessment
  • Building High Performing Teams
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment by empowering teams mobilize the strengths, trust, and collaboration of team members so they are focused on achieving the highest standards and results
  • Guide team members on technical areas, participate actively in performance management & learning process of the team; help build the career value that team gains from working with GDS CCaSS
  • Providence guidance to leaders in CCaSS on the key priorities while managing several medium to large size projects and efficient & effective team allocation to projects and initiatives, based on skills, career goals & clients' expectation.

  • Take responsibility of managing risk at the practice and engagement level maintain independence and objectivity, complying personally (and challenging colleagues' and teams 'adherence) with all applicable professional standards, EY policies and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver training on CCaSS methodology and other current market trends and industry issues
  • Operational Excellence
  • Strong focus on operational excellence, efficiency, and cost. It is critical to improve overall utilization levels in GDS CCaSS, especially at senior and manager levels, while increasing overall retention and ensuring people development
  • Work with defined geographies and creating targets for delivered hours. Responsible for successfully monitoring the actual results against the budget for key KPIs like number of hours delivered, utilization, linearity of hours etc.

Qualifications, skills, and experience

  • 10+ years of experience (graduates) and 8+ years of experience (postgraduates), preferably from consulting background, research thinktanks and/ or environment, and sustainability related areas
  • Experience in ESG strategy development, ESG reporting and/or assurance, ESG impact assessments, ESG / EHS due diligence, Supply chain sustainability, Materiality assessment among others
  • Excellent and demonstrable team & engagement management, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages with stakeholders
  • Excellent MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, if necessary
