Junior Scientist - Entomology
Position Purpose -
This position will involve working with research projects and prepare data reports critical to various discovery & stewardship projects.
Major tasks & responsibilities -
- Working on various global discovery & Insect Resistance Management (IRM) projects.
- Screening new insecticidal proteins/chemistry molecules from Global discovery teams against key insect pests of regional importance interest to Bayer.
- Laboratory / Greenhouse and field evaluation of new trait events/chemistry molecule.
- Mass multiplication of lepidopteran/hemipteran pests of in the laboratory
- Support Quality management system (ISO 9001:2015) with respect to all aspects of QMS
- Support laboratory information management system (LIMS) and Guidelines for Research Records (GRRs)
- Support Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) guidelines in the laboratory.
- Laboratory management with respect to various inventories in the laboratory.
KRA -
- To ensure conduct of all experiments as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) / best practice documents (BPDs)
- To generate high quality & timely research data for submission of research reports to various customers
Value Added -
This will be part of the Entomology team that acts as a critical component for our overall crop science portfolio.
The small but highly sought-after team provides innovative solutions to Biotech and Field Solutions Team in advancing pipeline for global discovery projects and prelaunch and postlaunch support to regional business.
Qualification -
M.Sc. in Agricultural Entomology with minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant projects
Knowledge & Skill -
- Insect bioassays in the laboratory
- Insect Taxonomy, Anatomy, Physiology & Toxicology
- Field trial & agronomy experience with respect to insect pests in India
- Statistical design, analysis and interpretation of research data
- Insect resistance management (IRM) and integrated pest management (IPM)
- Working experience on regional insect pests of different crops
- Insect massculturing in laboratory
- Laboratory management
