GOVERNMENT SALES - IT

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to target government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels, including identifying key decision-makers and influencers within these organizations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government clients, including understanding their unique needs and challenges and providing tailored IT solutions and services to address them.
  • Collaborate with internal sales, marketing, and product teams to develop customized sales proposals and presentations that address the specific requirements of government clients.
  • Stay informed about government procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements, and ensure that all sales activities adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposals and bids in response to government requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), and other procurement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with technical and solution architects to ensure that proposed IT solutions meet the technical specifications and requirements outlined in government solicitations.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with government clients, ensuring that agreements are mutually beneficial and align with company objectives and profitability targets.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics related to government sales activities, including pipeline development, deal closure rates, and revenue attainment.
  • Stay up-to-date on government IT priorities, initiatives, and funding opportunities, and identify new avenues for business development within the government sector.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other events attended by government procurement professionals, and actively network with potential government clients.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT sales, with a focus on selling to government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements, including experience with federal contracting vehicles such as GSA schedules and IDIQ contracts.
  • Proven track record of success in achieving sales targets and building relationships with government clients.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crossfunctional team in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with government clients and attend industry events (estimated travel: 2530%).
