We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Data Asset Designer


The Opportunity:

We are building a revolutionary data analytics ecosystem to generate business insights and provide great customer experience from wellmanaged and trusted data assets.
  • Our global team is partnering with IT to deliver an ecosystem of curated, enriched and protected sets of data created from global, raw, structured and unstructured sources. Our Wholesale Big Data Lake is the largest aggregation of data ever within HSBC. We have over 300 sources and a rapidly growing book of work. We are utilising the latest technologies to solve business problems and deliver value and truly unique insights.
  • The Data Asset Designer will help define and develop logical data assets and transformation logic for WCL operational and analytical use cases and machine learning algorithms to support data quality assurance and insights.

What you'll do:


The Data Asset Designer will:

Support defining and developing logical data assets.

  • Data analysis in the primary sources for completeness, accuracy.
  • Data analysis of crosssystems linkages, consistency, and timing alignments.
  • Data analysis of the transformation logic where required.
  • Data analysis of the data required for the model build by GRA.
  • Provide support on all areas covering trouble shooting and root cause assessment on data issues.
  • Consult with stakeholders to determine business problems, data requirements and to support decision making.
  • Generation of data assets and analytics to support business activities, financial projects, product planning, sales activities, performance measurement, regulatory requests and decision making.
  • Work closely with the CDO communities across Wholesale, Risk, Finance and FCR to ensure the unified data model is fit for purpose for the WCL data demands.

Customers / Stakeholders

Primary customers are:

  • Business lines
  • GBM & CMB
  • Functional Teams e.g., Risk, Group Finance
  • Operational support teams
  • Group & Regional teams
  • Other Risk subfunctions global and regional


The role holder will support stakeholders by analysing data from multiple sources to produce concise and focused analytics insights and providing robust, accurate data and evidence to support conclusions and recommendations.

Other stakeholders on projects will include (as demanded by specific project need):

  • WCL
  • Other IT delivery functions
  • Other Transformation functions
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Other service delivery functions
  • Data service providers
  • Software, data and service vendors
The role holder will interact equally with senior management of stakeholder groups and line staff as necessary. Governance should be in accordance with Group standards policy and procedures.
