Your work in the Rewards Center of Expertise will be critical to help us deliver on the promise of building a more cohesive and integrated function.


  • Job Purpose
  • Enables Novartis to hire and retain talent through the quality and timely delivery of core compensation process and consulting for their respective country/countries. Responsible and accountable for job evaluation, benchmarking, offers, and salary cycle activities, as well as related training, education & insights for assigned geographies.
  • This role will support service delivery for Japan.
  • Your responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Job Evaluation:
  • Participates in other job evaluation and job architecture projects, including org. design projects, workforce planning, M&A integrations etc.
  • Supports with relevant insights and analytics.
  • Benchmarking:
  • Responsible for quality and timely execution of Benchmarking and yearend activities for assigned country including (but not limited to):
a. survey participation, analysis and submissions
- b. study labor markets to determine salary trends / ranges and creation of market ranges
- c. benchmark labor market trends, propose salary structure and adjustments to the business based on survey data
- d. engagement with country stakeholders to understand current hiring and retention activities / challenges and requirements
  • Works closely with Rewards Business Partners and other relevant country stakeholders to ensure pay ranges support talent hiring and retention, exploring alternative data sources or matches where necessary.
  • Leads annual budgeting process and salary increase matrix design for countries under scope. Works together closely with Rewards Business Partners and other country stakeholders to ensure the budget and matrix addresses local talent / legal / employee rep. requirements, as well as enables fair budget distribution and adherence during the salary planning cycle.
  • Maintains country knowledge base for countries under scope, including details of local process stepouts, local market ranges (LMRs) and any other relevant information to support core compensation processes
  • O2C:
  • Acts as first point of contact for Talent Acquisition and People Partners for offer process support for responsible country/countries, providing advice on offers and buyouts.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
a. reviewing and tracking the offers which are outside the rewards guideline, providing recommendations or escalating to the Rewards Business Partner where necessary
- b. buy-out calculations for equity and other compensation items
- c. cost of living analysis and recommendations on transition allowances for international transfers
- d.

ensuring proper documentation (including the rationale of the offers outside the guideline) to ensure audit trail- Others:


  • Supports Rewards Business Partner with other compensation and benefits activities / projects for responsible country as applicable
  • Delivers training and consulting to stakeholders on core compensation processes, ensuring Talent Acquisition and People Partner teams in relevant countries understand roles, responsibilities and governance for core compensation processes
  • Supports the development and delivery of integrated Rewards/P&O analytics to support core compensation processes and improve compensation decisions.
  • Participate in Global/regional Rewards projects and continuous improvement activities
  • Ethics and Compliance
  • Work within Ethics, Risk and Compliance policies and procedures and ensure those around him/her do the same

  • Seamless service delivery for assigned geography with right level of quality & end user experience

Minimum requirements

  • What you'll bring to the role:
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits.
  • Experience in Benchmarking and Job Evaluation processes
  • Benchmarking Tool experience is desirable
  • Prior experience in HRIS/Ticketing tool desirable
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fastgrowing team highlearning agility
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office(word, power point and excel)
