ENGINEER OVERVIEW:
  • We are seeking an experienced VMware engineer to join our team at an expert level.
  • As an integral part of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our VMware environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


BE ABLE TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT:

  • Be a part of the design, architecture, and implementation of VMware virtualization solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices.

INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT:


  • Manage and maintain vCD, VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated components.

PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION:


  • Analyze and optimize virtualized environments for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions to improve overall system performance.

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE:


  • Experience in implementing security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Configure and manage security features such as vSphere Security Hardening Guide, VM encryption, and rolebased access control (RBAC).

DISASTER RECOVERY AND HIGH AVAILABILITY:


  • Design, configure, and maintain VMware solutions for disaster recovery and high availability, including VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and VMware High Availability (HA).

AUTOMATION AND SCRIPTING:


  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Utilize PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python or other scripting languages for automation purposes.

MONITORING AND ALERTING:


  • Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Configure alerts and notifications for critical events and performance thresholds.

CAPACITY PLANNING:


  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure adequate resources are available to support current and future business needs.
  • Recommend hardware and software upgrades as necessary.

DOCUMENTATION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING:


  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design documents, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Share knowledge and provide training to junior team members as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 57 years of experience as a VMware engineer, with a focus on designing and managing enterpriselevel virtualized environments.
  • VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) are highly desired.
  • Indepth knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, ESXi, vSAN, NSX, and other VMware products.
  • Strong understanding of networking, storage, and server technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, or similar languages.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
