Indian Cancer Society (ICS) was founded by Dr. D.J. Jussawalla and Mr. Naval Tata in 1951 as India's premier voluntary organization dedicated to raising awareness, providing detection, treatment, and support for individuals battling cancer.

ICS plays a vital role in spreading awareness about breast, oral cavity, and cervix cancers across India.

They offer underprivileged communities access to early cancer detection through specialized centers and mobile camps.

In addition, ICS assists impoverished cancer patients by covering accommodation, treatment expenses, rehabilitation, and organizing support groups.

Notably, ICS manages population-based cancer registries in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Aurangabad, and publishes the first indexed oncology journal in India, the Indian Journal of Cancer.

About the OCAP Project:

ICS is recruiting Program Coordinators (PC) for a role based in Kolkata, West Bengal, involving frequent travel to other districts within the program areas.

They are spearheading the Oral and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention Program (OCAP) in four states: Goa, West Bengal, and Telangana.

The project focuses on densely populated districts in each state, covering all urban areas within those districts.

The Program Coordinators (PCs) will oversee project activities and events in urban towns of the selected districts.

Job Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the project implementation within designated districts.
  • Identify and collaborate with local partners and screening centers for cancer referrals.
  • Engage with health officials to promote program implementation.
  • Organize on-ground events, trainings, meetings, and report on project progress.
  • Compile and share monthly data reports with the organization.
  • Ensure timely reporting and implementation of program activities.
  • Undertake field visits as necessary and comply with supervisor's directives.
  • Extensive travel and occasional remote work may be required.

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or Public Health with 5-6 years' experience in public health, ideally managing community health programs.

Other Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills in local languages and English.

Prior experience in public health or cancer awareness projects; knowledge of health and training issues.

Ability to multitask, attention to detail, and produce quality work independently.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Language Requirement: Bengali, Hindi & English.

Salary: ₹25,000 - ₹30,000.00 per month.
