The Polymath School is Mumbai's first K-12 Project-Based-Learning (PBL) School.

In projects that typically last 3-4 months, we integrate rich content, 21st-century skills and human values in the context of a real-life problem or a challenge.

The interdisciplinary nature of projects, along with the real-life context, makes learning come alive for students and educators
(Examples - Organic Farming Project, "Building a Frog Habitat").

Even though we are a school, we try to maintain a start-up culture.

The reason for that is simple - if we want our students to develop life-skills like critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, etc., we, the facilitators (educators), need to live it ourselves.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the education and training of students with physical, emotional, mental, and learning challenges and to ensure the involvement of parents of students with additional requisites in the educational processes of their children.

Also to closely collaborate with educators, other professionals and administrators to foster the teaching and learning of students with additional requisites.

Responsibilities include:

Taking small groups or individual sessions for students as per requirements on special needs from classroom observations
Developing strong onetoone relations with students and parents
Helping students improve outcomes through IEP, remedials, assigning classwork and homework as necessary, etc.
Developing structures for the school such as counseling, remedials, new admissions among others
Holding conversations with parents for students with special requirements
Documenting student progress
Assessment for new admissions

Additional responsibilities include:

Admissions counseling
Supervising students out of class, such as in the hallways
Participating in parent outreach / marketing initiatives

Prerequisites:

Good communication skills in Hindi and English.
Proven experience as a Special Educator or relevant role in a school setting is required.
Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities
Ability to create and implement IEPs
A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
BSc in Special Education; MSc is a plus
Can commute on your own (at least for departure, bus facility available from Kalyan)
