Responsibilities:


_Strategic_

  • Create a vision and roadmap for operations excellence at site with focus on cost optimization, technology adoption, revenue enhancement, customer satisfaction, quality and safety
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and alignment to create process improvements
  • Understand site challenges and plan technology solutions to strengthen current and future process delivery
  • Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency (workflow, systems, material usage, cost)
  • Create a model of continuous improvement where the focus is on creating value for the customers

_Financial_

  • Evaluate financial impact of technology adoption/ automation/ process changes vis a vis cost optimization or profit improvement
  • Prepare the budget and proposals for improvement initiatives
  • Identify and implement cost savings initiatives/ profit maximization initiatives

_Customer/ External Orientation_

  • Work with customer functions/ end customers to execute desired initiatives and improve efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Leverage cross functional teams to execute the operations excellence strategy across various functions

_People Orientation_

  • Develop employee capabilities to create a culture of operations excellence and continuous improvement
  • Develop and strengthen employee capabilities in the area of data analytics, IoT, smart manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma & Kaizen

_Core operational accountabilities_

Process Improvement

  • Study & recommend debottlenecking initiatives to enhance production capacity, improve quality and eliminate technical problems in conducting safe operations
  • Conduct process feasibility studies
  • Develop design specifications and sizing for equipments
  • Prepare and own process documents, design basis, process flow diagrams, P & IDs and plant layouts, Heat and mass balance for improvement schemes and debottlenecking of existing plants
  • Identify areas of breakdowns and rectify the issues by implementing trouble shooting tools, SPC tools etc.
  • HAZOP study and safety audit of the system
  • Interacting with technology/equipment suppliers for achieving performance parameters
  • Provide inputs for product and technical development
  • Propose automation of processes and systems in line with global standards

Product Development

  • Take up technical feasibility study of New Value Added Products

Energy Conservation

  • Ensure optimum Energy Consumption
  • Identify priority areas for improvement in energy consumption
  • Critical review of daily power consumption
  • Conduct energy mapping & energy audit

Risk Management

  • Identify risks from a technical, financial and EHS perspective in technical services to ensure their potential impact on the business is identified, documented and communicated
  • Ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place to address all identified risks. Support Operations Teams in risk mitigation

Quality, Safety and Environment

  • Demonstrate high concern for the health and safety of self and others. Act and lead teams to a professional standard with respect to safety and environmental issues
  • Direct and monitor adherence of statutory compliance related to Safety, Health and Environment to provide safe working environment
  • Identify best safety practices and train the people to adopt the practices
  • Ensure compliance to all Pollution Control norms
  • Regular monitoring of cost drivers and discussion amongst the team for improvement
  • Participation in Break down meetings

System Management

  • To ensure implementation of Integrated Management System, British Safety Council, Responsible Care procedures and systems like TQM, TPM, KAIZEN, SIX Sigma etc
Review audit reports and plan for improvement

  • BE Chemical with 20 years of experience in a broad range of technical and Operational roles.
  • M. Tech in Chemical Engineering will be preferred.
  • Should have worked in medium to large scale chemical manufacturing organization
  • Should have experience of leading projects/ executing solutions in Digital, IOT, Industry 4.0
  • Strong customer orientation, should be able to understand functional needs and leverage Lean Six Sigma methodology to create process improvements
  • Strong understanding of new data analytics tools
