About Anirudh Murali:
I'm currently pursuing my Doctoral research under the mentorship of Dr. Ram Rup Sarkar at CSIR - National Chemical Laboratory, India. My work focuses on elucidating the impact of microgravity on immune cell behaviour by integrating fluid dynamics simulations, network-based systems biology, and mathematical modelling through differential equations.
🔬 Research Focus & Technical Expertise
✔️ Computational Immunology – Modelling immune cell adaptation under biophysical stressors such as altered gravity
✔️ Systems Biology & Network Analysis – Leveraging TRRUST, REACTOME, and STRING to map and analyse protein interaction networks
✔️ Particle- and Fluid-Based Simulations – Developing DPD-based models to explore fluid–cell and solid–fluid interactions
✔️ Data Analysis & Statistical Modelling – Applying R and Python for omics data interpretation and functional annotation
My research aims to bridge physics-driven simulations with biological interpretation, offering a multiscale perspective on how gravity influences immune regulation. I am particularly interested in simulating complex cellular environments using Python-based particle interaction frameworks.
I welcome discussions and collaborations in computational biology, biophysical modelling, and systems immunology. Let’s connect!

Experience
- Mesoscale CFD modelling of biofluid and RBC dynamics under altered gravity: Developed and validated a 2D mesoscale CFD (DPD) model to analyse biofluid and Red Blood Cell (RBC) dynamics under altered gravity (0g- 2g), quantifying mechanical metrics and the impact of hydrodynamic/gravitational forces on RBC morphology and distribution.
- Characterisation of WBC dynamic responses in microgravity environments: Developed a 2D mesoscale DPD model of White Blood Cells (WBCs) to predict and characterise morphological adaptations and mechanical force interactions (shear, drag) under altered gravity, with comparative RBC analysis.
- Modelling cyto-nuclear architectural adaptations in WBCs to gravitational variations: Advanced WBC model to include nuclear/cytoskeletal structures, investigating intracellular force transmission and characterising cyto-nuclear morphological deformations in response to altered gravity and fluid stresses.
- Development of computational pipeline for integrating mechanotransduction in T-cells: An integrated computational pipeline combining CFD force data with a Signal Flow Algorithm (SFA) to quantify gravitational effects on T-cell protein expression and signal propagation; validated against transcriptomic datasets.
