I, Mr. JAYPRAKASH YADAV, have submitted my Ph.D. thesis in the field of Bioprocess Engineering under the supervision of Dr, Nivedita Patra (Assist. Professor) in the Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (Odisha). I have experience in microbial technology and my Ph.D. thesis is in “Studies on microbial production and extraction of Poly-ꞵ-hydroxybutyrate using Bacillus subtilis”.  During my Ph.D. tenure, B. subtilis was employed for intracellular PHB production in batch and fed-batch cultivation. The B. subtilis culture showed maximum biomass formation and PHB accumulation with maximum PHB yield. The overall productivity of PHB production was found to be improved in this research work. Inhibition kinetics experiments were performed for the estimation of batch kinetics parameters. Also, a new extraction process of PHB from cell biomass of bacterial cell with non-toxic and cheaper solvent (acetone) was developed by optimizing different parameters such as acetone percentage, solvent pH, process temperature, incubation period and analyzed by statistical tools such as Plackett-Burman (PB) design and Response Surface Methodology (RSM). I have a lifetime membership of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) since 2012. My area of expertise (not limited to) includes Bioprocess Engineering, Microbial Technology and techniques, Fermentation Technology and processing, Recombinant DNA technology, Protein Engineering, and Biological waste management.

I have 1 ½ year of pre-PhD experience in academics as an Assist. professor at Madhav Institute of Technology and Science, Gwalior (MP). During this tenure, I have taken classes for UG and PG courses which include Instrumentation, Microbiology, Genomics and proteomics, Microbial technology, Biochemistry, and Environmental Engineering. Also during the teaching period, I learned, explored, built, and shaped my knowledge and practical skills. In addition to teaching experience, I have 5 months of industrial exposure in Bioneeds India Pvt. Ltd where I developed my understanding of production, purification, and estimation of polyclonal antibodies. My keen interest is in technology transfer for academics to the industrial level for the betterment of human health, society, and the environment.

I hold my Under-Graduate and post- Graduate degrees, B.E. & M. Tech in BIOTECHNOLOGY, which I had completed from October 2004 to Dec. 2008 and 2009 to 2011 from the Department of Biotechnology at MITS College, (Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal) GWALIOR. The syllabus covered here gave me immense knowledge to develop innovative skills in the field of Biotechnology. My PG  dissertation project was on “Prevalence of airborne microorganism in Gwalior Trade Fair” under the supervision of Dr. A. K. Goel Scientist ‘D’ division of Biotechnology, DRDE Gwalior.
