●   Deign and preplanning of the scaffold including weight limitations, scaffold type, fall protection, tie-offs, supports etc.

●   Overseeing the erection of the scaffold.

●   Final inspection of the scaffold prior to initial occupation for use.

●   At a minimum, daily inspection and documentation of the condition of the scaffold and its ability to be occupy safely.

●   Inspections of scaffolds after changes alterations have been made.

●   Oversight and inspections of mobile scaffolds.

●   Training of other competent person, scaffold erectors and users.

●   Contact HSE for assistance and guidance in any of the duties associated with being a competent person.

●   Regular supervision of site.

●   To be able to coordinate and communicating with employees.

●   Carry out the daily toolbox talks.

●   Ensure adherence to the planned time frame targets.

●   Liaise with the works supervisor in order to optimize the use of scaffolding materials and teams on work site.

●   Work closely with team and know how to use an outline for work scope for execution of project scaffolding works.

●   Assist in developing enhanced scaffolding standards at the work place.

●   Check, inspect, rectify and certify the scaffold before use.

●   Member of the site safety committee.

●   Conduct regular safety talks covering pertinent topics

●   Monitor all daily scaffolding activities to ensure safe work practices are in place

●   Act to stop any unsafe practices and immediately repot any unsafe condition.
