Shampa Das

I am a passionate HR Professional with over 20 years of experience across BFSI, Manufacturing, BPO and Education sectors. I have led HR transformation projects and have deep expertise in handling overall employee life cycle management including - Talent Acquisition, Performance management, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Coaching, Change Management, ER challenges, HR analytics, Policies and Practices. 

I have experience at field level (zonal roles) as well as Corporate Office, supporting and partnering with businesses to help in expansion, driving employee engagement, culture building programs, and drive other corporate initiatives, such as DEI, Employee Wellness Programs, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability, Ethics, etc.

I have over 20 years of experience working in various industries in HR and Talent Development. In my last role, I was an HR Specialist responsible for Employee Experience, Co-creating an Engaging Culture at QH and L&D for India and ASEAT region. 

I have been a part of HR transformation at QH and at PMLI.

QH went through a merger in August 2019, and was dealing with the aftereffects of it even when I joined them 2 years back. Based on our discussion with Head of HR and Business Head we had two broad objectives to achieve: 

A) Work on the integration and make it one organization – as it was a dis-jointed organization 

B) Make QH a great place to work – to attract, train and retain best talent

To drive the first objective, we started an exercise in the organisation bringing the entire workforce together - under a common set of values. I led the exercise and as part of the same revised the employees policies and practices, making it one. 

On the second objective, I took the lead in driving employee engagement by, first involving and agreeing with the senior management the path - and then drove it with the help of the hierarchy below. We had tailored various and extensive communication sessions, engagement activities, health and wellness initiatives as well as extensive focus on employee development. 

All these efforts led QH becoming a high trust high performing organisation - resulting in QH being certified as a Great Place to Work for 2 consecutive years, with our Trust Index moving to a high of 86 percentile. Internally, the Global Employee Your Voice Survey scores saw India business rank within the top 3 countries with high positive scores across most parameters.

As a Zonal HRBP I played a key role in supporting the organisation in its growth and expansion phase. PMLI was growing, opening up new offices in the East and also adding manpower to support the growth plan. This called for massive workforce planning, quick decisions, collaboration across various teams, working 24/7 - and despite all the pressure, keeping everyone engaged and focused. It also meant a change in the manner we on boarded employees, trained them to succeed, but also worked with the team leads to equip them to handle larger teams. Overall, we succeeded in all the metrics in the East - and also ended up having very high engagement scores too.  

I moved to Mumbai, to be a part Corporate HR during the later part of my stint with PMLI. Here, I  co-facilitated a culture transformation exercise in the organisation given the massive growth and addition of manpower - where employees felt – Included, Engaged, Rewarded and Cared for. PMLI engagement scores are very healthy and amongst the best globally for MetLife. 

I am a BSc graduate in Economics, an MBA in Marketing from IISWBM and have completed my Executive Development Program in Human Resource Management (EDPHRM) from XLRI as well.

I am a certified Happiness Coach from Berkeley Institute of Well Being, California and a Laughter Therapist/ Yoga Trainer from Laughter Yoga University as well.
