Tamal Ghosh

My name is Tamal Ghosh and my comprehensive background includes B.Sc in Chemistry, M.Sc in Biochemistry. I also obtained M.Tech degree in Applied Botany from IIT Kgp.I qualified NET, GATE exam.I was awarded DBT project scholarship as JRF from IACS,Kolkata where I did mitochondrial respiration studies on sarcoma cells. During M.Sc I did project work entitled:Isolation & Characterisation of secondary metabolites from Citrus limon and during M.Tech I did project work  entitled: Isolation & optimization of lipid production from oleaginous fungus RTJ-M1313.
At present I have been working at department of biological science of IISER Kolkata for the last 9 years as a technical personnel (contractually).From here I have gained experience extensively on each aspect of my assigned duties towards flow cytometry,ITC and centrifuge facility.My primary job is smooth  running of flow cytometry facility which belongs to Institute central facility system.I assist in research by running the sample  and data  analysis  of different physical & chemical parameters of cells  i.e. cell cycle, different surface  marker study,apoptosis study,ROS generation,GFP expression,JC-1 staining  for the  study of mitochondial health,uptake of siRNA syudy etc.I am also  experienced  on cell sorting and  multicolor flow cytometry pannel designing for  marker selection study.Simultaneosly I do perform different experiment and data analysis  on ITC to investigate  protein–protein interaction,to determine thermodynamic parametrs,types of binding etc. Due to contribution of my expertise in flow cytometry as well as in ITC my work have been acknowledged in different reputed journals.Moreover due to contribution of pannel designing &  data analysis  of flow cytometry I got a publication in the journal of ACS infectious disease.The title of publication is “Gut microbe-derived outermembrane vescicle: A potential platform to control cecal load of Campylobater jejuni.Another important is that besides the bilogical department  I also run the sample   and analyse the data  of others department as well as external samples also. Besides these daily routine  I also was extensively involved in Bioanalytical workshop-2022 as a module instructor which was held in DBS,IISER Kolkata  where I was module instructor for flow Cytometry as well as ITC.I also invited in BD EAST-FACStep,2022 (Technologist education )program  where I delivered a talk on troubleshooting on data acquisition of flow cytometry.
