As a Hospital Counselor specializing in mother and child care, your primary responsibility is to provide emotional support, guidance, and counseling services to mothers and families in a hospital setting.

You will work closely with healthcare professionals to address the emotional, psychological, and social needs of mothers and children, helping them cope with various challenges and ensuring their well-being throughout their hospital stay.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Counseling Services:
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to mothers, expectant mothers, and families facing emotional distress, anxiety, or other mental health challenges.
  • Conduct assessments and develop personalized counseling plans based on the specific needs and circumstances of each client.
  • Offer support and guidance to mothers dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues, and other mental health concerns related to pregnancy, childbirth, and child care.
  • Emotional Support:
  • Offer a compassionate and empathetic ear to mothers and families, creating a safe and nonjudgmental environment for them to express their feelings and concerns.
  • Provide emotional support during difficult situations such as complications during pregnancy, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stays, loss of a child, or other challenging circumstances.
  • Education and Advocacy:
  • Educate mothers and families about mental health, coping strategies, parenting skills, and selfcare practices to promote their overall wellbeing.
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of mothers and children within the hospital, collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care that addresses both physical and emotional aspects.
  • Collaboration and Referrals:
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, social workers, and psychologists to coordinate integrated care plans for mothers and families.
  • Make appropriate referrals to external mental health services, support groups, community resources, or specialized programs when necessary for ongoing care and support.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Prepare reports on counseling outcomes, client progress, and service utilization for internal review and quality improvement purposes.

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Relevant experience in counseling, preferably in a healthcare or maternal health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health issues, traumainformed care, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of ethical and legal standards in counseling practice.
  • Certification or licensure as a professional counselor or therapist

₹20, ₹30,000.00 per month
