Job Description:

Writing, Reviewing, and mentoring (up to 40%):

  • To create complex and specialized content without supervision; manage end-to-end publication/medical education content development process including documentation
  • Review scientific publication content created by the team members
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic area expertise; coach and review content created by junior scientific writers; work in close collaboration with peers/team to develop best practices; and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
  • Maintain effective relationship with the end stakeholders (medical scientific community) within the allocated Global Business Unit and product with an end objective to develop education and communication content as per requirement
  • Interact effectively with health care professionals on publication content
  • Constantly assist junior writers in developing knowledge and sharing expertise
  • Ensure timely delivery of documents and project updates

Portfolio Management/Delivery (up to 40%):

  • Responsible/accountable for management/delivery of overall book of work (abstracts, posters and manuscripts) through team of publications writers.
  • Develops and executes sourcing plans in partnership with Head of Scientific publications to ensure seamless delivery of asset plan and priorities.
  • Adjusts work plan based on shifting priorities using effective change control.
  • Leads and directs team members in achieving goals.
  • Identifies and resolves issues impacting delivery of work.
  • Conceives and implements new and efficient ways to accomplish goals.
  • Regularly reports results of team activities/metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage audit readiness, quality, and compliance to ensure deliverables are accurate, transparent, of high quality, and in compliance with internal/external guidance/regulation.
People Management and Development (up to 20%)

  • Recruits, develops, and retains a strategic and operationally capable workforce skilled and knowledgeable in scientific communications. Effectively creates and manages an agile organization that continuously meets the needs of a changing portfolio.
  • Develops staff who demonstrate:
a. expertise in drug development, therapeutic area science, strategic thinking, project management, and cross-functional leadership.

b. an organizational talent base that demonstrates judgment-based decision making

c. Provide input on employee development, talent assessment, and succession planning activities.

d. Provides guidance, training, and supervision to direct reports.

e. Evaluates performance by reviewing documents and recommends developmental actions for all assigned staff.

f. Ensures all direct reports are compliant with company policies, procedures, and regulations.


Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD or PhD) in a scientific, health, communications, technology, health outcomes, or public health related field.
  • 46 years' experience in medical communication / pharmaceutical industry.
  • 12 years' experience in leading/managing a key part of portfolio or business process.
  • Experience leading others and handling teams, including relationship and team building, setting expectations, holding others accountable, and technical coaching.
  • Strong scientific communication skills, including extensive experience in writing, reviewing, and publishing scientific materials and the ability to appraise scientific literature and raw data critically.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with all audiences and forums through exemplary oral and written communication skills.

Desired:

Reproducible working experience demonstrating published articles, congress deliverables, post-hoc articles, meta-analysis, network-meta-analysis, case reports, slide decks, MSL decks, hands-on experience of writing a network-meta-analysis and meta-analysis and APAC working experience.
