Job Summary:

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, He/She will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the server infrastructure within our data center environment. This multifaceted role involves overseeing server installations, virtualization, HCI configuration, OS installations, backup and restoration management, VDI configuration, license management, database management, application management, data center operations, patch upgrades, Active Directory integration for applications, financial forecasting, troubleshooting, ticket tracking with OEMs, and coordinating shutdown requirements with the operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Installation and Configuration:

• Plan and execute server hardware installations and configurations.
• Ensure proper cabling and rack management within the data center.

Virtualization and HCI Configuration:

• Deploy and manage virtualization technologies (e.g., Acropolis, VMware, Hyper-V).
• Configure and maintain Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions.

Operating System Installation:

• Install, configure, and update server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
• Ensure OS security and patch management.

Backup and Restoration Management:

• Develop and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
• Regularly perform backups and test restoration procedures.

VDI Configuration:

• Configure and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
• Provide support to end-users using virtual desktops.

License Management:

• Manage software and hardware licenses to ensure compliance.
• Keep records of licenses and perform audits as necessary.

Database Management:

• Administer and maintain databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle) on the servers.
• Optimize database performance and security.

Application Management:

• Install, configure, and maintain applications running on server infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues.

Data Center Operations:

• Monitor the data center environment for performance and reliability.
• Implement and adhere to data center best practices and standards.

Patch Upgrades:

• Plan and execute regular patch and update management for operating systems, applications, and server firmware.
• Perform testing and validation of patches before deploying them to production systems.
• Ensure that patching complies with security and compliance standards.

Active Directory (AD) Integration for Applications:

• Integrate applications with Active Directory using LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) or other relevant technologies.
• Manage user access and authentication for applications through AD.
• Ensure proper synchronization and directory services for seamless user management.

Financial Forecasting:

• Forecast OPEX and CAPEX related to server infrastructure, data center operations, and related projects.
• Provide insights into budget planning, helping to allocate resources effectively.
• Continuously monitor and analyze expenditures to ensure they align with financial forecasts.

Troubleshooting:

• Quickly identify and resolve hardware and software issues related to server infrastructure, virtualization, applications, and data center operations.
• Develop and maintain troubleshooting procedures and knowledge bases for common issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex problems and minimize downtime.

Ticket Tracking with OEMs:

• Coordinate support and maintenance activities with OEMs for server hardware and software components.
• Initiate and manage support tickets with OEMs to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Keep detailed records of all interactions and resolutions with OEM support.

Shutdown Coordination:

• Communicate scheduled server or data center shutdown requirements to the operations team and other relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the operations team to plan and execute safe and efficient shutdowns, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
• Obtain necessary clearances and approvals for scheduled shutdowns to minimize disruptions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent experience.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, VMware Certified Professional) are a plus.
• Proven experience in server installation, virtualization, HCI, and data center management.
• Strong knowledge of various operating systems, databases, and backup solutions.
• Proficiency in managing licenses and maintaining compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of security best practices in data center operations.
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of budgeting processes.
• Proficiency in financial forecasting tools or software.
• Ability to communicate financial data effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and their usage.
• Experience in coordinating support with OEMs and third-party vendors.

• Knowledge of data center shutdown procedures and best practices.
• Experience in obtaining clearances and approvals for maintenance activities.
