    Description

    Overview

    The Lead SiteReliability Engineer (SRE) Observability KPI at Newrelic plays acrucial role in ensuring the reliability availability andperformance of Newrelics observability platform. This role isessential in maintaining and improving the observability keyperformance indicators (KPIs) to meet customer expectations andsupport Newrelics business goals.

    KeyResponsibilities

    • Lead the designimplementation and maintenance of observability KPIs to measureplatform performance andeffectiveness.
    • Collaborate with crossfunctionalteams to drive initiatives for improving system reliabilityperformance and supportability.
    • Developmaintain and optimize monitoring and alerting systems to ensureproactive issue detection andresolution.
    • Automate infrastructure tasks toenhance system observability and response time to criticalincidents.
    • Define and implement best practicesfor observability instrumentation and logging across theplatform.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits ofkey systems and processes to identify optimizationopportunities.
    • Participate in oncall rotationsand incident response to maintain high systemavailability.
    • Provide technical leadership andmentorship to SRE team members fostering a culture of continuousimprovement.
    • Drive the adoption of cloudservices and technologies to enhance observabilitycapabilities.
    • Contribute to the development andexecution of disaster recovery and business continuityplans.

    RequiredQualifications

    • Bachelors or Mastersdegree in Computer Science Engineering or a relatedfield.
    • 5 years of experience in a SiteReliability Engineering (SRE) role with a focus on observabilityand performance.
    • Expertise in using Newrelic orsimilar observability and monitoringplatforms.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in definingand measuring KPIs for system performance andreliability.
    • Strong programming skills inlanguages such as Python Go or Java for automation and toolingdevelopment.
    • Indepth knowledge of cloudservices and infrastructure such as AWS Azure orGCP.
    • Experience with troubleshooting complexdistributed systems and microservicesarchitectures.
    • Proven track record of leadingand managing observability and monitoring projects to successfuloutcomes.
    • Excellent communication andcollaboration skills to work effectively across teams andstakeholders.
    • Certifications such as AWSCertified DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator area plus.
