The Role:


You can look forward to contributing to the team's work in the following areas**:

  • Designing and building financial and economic models in line with Shell Excel best practice standards, to support decisions made in the business;
  • Carrying out independent assurance of model integrity by evaluating their logic and calculations, identifying potential errors and risk;
  • Updating the local versions of the Downstream Valuation Model (DOVAMO)
  • Supporting the post investment reviews of investments and marketing campaigns
  • Ensuring that the Opportunity Realization Standards (ORS) and Manual of Authorities (MOA) are being adhered to
  • Raising awareness of risks around using financial and economic models by offering training across the finance community.
  • Review the results of project economics to ensure consistency in assumptions used, standardization of methodology, reasonableness of the results.
  • Bring challenge, expertise and commercial acumen to new deal negotiations and deal structuring. Clearly articulate the challenge and propose solutions in the deal to meet customer needs and be able to defend their proposals
  • Deliver actionable insights that directly address challenges / opportunities and partner with stakeholders to implement / act on the insights
  • Develop relationship with business partners / stakeholders across businesses / functions to comprehensively understand their areas of operation
  • Influence business partners to deliver value to the organization through organization / process changes based on analytical insights
  • Application of external industry and competitor knowledge to enhancing deal structure and business objectives
  • Develop good understanding of Shell's deal processes and parameters to ensure deal meets contract and delivery requirements
  • Liaise with other Finance functional areas, including Tax, treasury, Controllers and Business Finance

Skills and Requirements**:


  • Wellrounded finance professional (MBA, CIMA, ACCA etc.) with significant experience of 47 years in business finance (preferably in areas of pricing, commercial finance, brand management).
  • Good commercial acumen & analytical aptitude
  • Economic and financial modelling (Excel spreadsheet) experience is essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to gain the confidence of various stakeholders building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk
  • Stakeholder management influencing, advising and challenging others is an important part of the job.
  • Project management skills track record of prioritizing and delivering your own workload.
  • Be flexible and able to prioritize/reprioritize quickly
  • Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decisionmaking process
  • Strong collaboration & interpersonal skills.
