Background:

About LFE:

BELIEF:

We believe Public Education Systems are the gatekeepers of social EQUITY, especially when India's 120 million poorest of the poor children go to government-run schools.

A multi-layered, complex, and systemic problem of educational inequity, will require a solution rooted in the SYSTEMS CHANGE approach.

We believe that a COLLECTIVE effort by forging partnerships with governments, like-minded philanthropists, corporates, donors, nonprofits and grassroots organisations will help bring scalable and sustainable social change.

VISION:
We envision Public Education Systems That Refuse To Let Children Down

APPROACH:
We focus on building system leaders by strengthening middle Management. LFE has a two pronged approach identified as training and doing. The details of the approach are mentioned in the snapshot below.

This includes enabling Academic & Administrative Officers (Extension Officers, BEOs, DIETs, SCERT) to effectively lead quality improvement programs and run their departments.

TRAINING
-
Professional Development Workshops: A periodic structure where officers regularly meet to build a sense of community working towards a common goal through sharing their successes and struggles, reflecting on them, and problem solving together through knowledge and skill development sessions.

DOING
-
Co-implementing Government programs: Enabling officers to design and implement contextual programs for covid-response to education, thus building their skills and mindsets in the process by Equipping Teachers Mentors (URCs, CRG, BRG, CRCs) to improve the classroom practices of teachers in foundational learning and technology.

About the project:

In order to help LFE realise its vision of systemic change to improve public education systems, one of a critical pathway is improving the capacity of middle-management or education officers via Training to ensure that there is a multiplier effect on our impact on education quality, and officers have knowledge, mindsets and skills to lead programs in their jurisdictions.

In order to ensure this, the State government along with LFE is revitalising the officer development

support across the State by building capacity of the existing administrative and academic machinery at

the State, District, Block level.

So far the project entails the following:

  • Building capacities of officers across State & District level through direct training as well as designing online learning experiences for them
  • Creating content for inperson and online training for officers
  • Ensuring clear support structures for Education Department government functionaries across the state.

So far, 3 Courses under LEAD (a blended program for officer development) have been completed and officers within SCERT and DIETs and a fourth course will be launched soon.
