The Role Responsibilities

Job Role


Product Owner is responsible for setting, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by a product Scrum team in order to ensure 'best in class' features and functionality of the product.

During evaluations, the product owner will match and prioritize the features and functionality of the product to obtain maximum value to the benefit of the end user and ensure business objectives are achieved.

This role will be responsible for designing and implementing the settlements solution for Financial markets.


This role will focus on building out the Financial Markets strategic settlement capabilities including but not limited to cross product settlement netting, strategic settlement release engine build and SWIFT message format validation services.


Strategy

  • Take the lead of scrum teams as the Product Owner.
  • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements.
  • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on.
  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product.
  • Define product vision, roadmap and growth opportunities.
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in operations, COO and the business to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI.
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities.
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release / Sprint goals.
  • Research and analyse market, the users, and the roadmap for the product.
  • Follow our competitors and emerging technology in the industry.
  • Keep abreast with Agile / Scrum best practices and new trends.
  • Work closely with the scrum team throughout the development process clarifying requirements and providing design input to ensure goals are achieved.

Business

  • Ability to prioritise user stories and requirements against business priorities.
  • Align benefits with business stakeholders and monitor / track benefits realisation through execution.

Processes

  • Analyze current business process and identify opportunities for improvement through automation and process efficiency.

Risk Management

  • Ability to identify potential operational risk and propose technologybased solutions to mitigate as part of the system design.

Governance

  • Initiatives under the remit of the Product Owner will be governed through the monthly refinement forums to track progress, risks, issues and impediments.

Key Stakeholders

  • Functional users and Process Owner
  • FMRP Product Owner
  • FMRP Chief Product Owner
  • Experience with CLS and other forms of settlement e.g. FX Utilisation, Over Account, Payment vs Payment and Delivery versus payment, Third Party Payment required.
  • 8 years experience with financial markets back office processes and products covering FX cash products or OTC derivatives.
  • 1 year of experience as a product owner in the industry.

Certification

  • Certified Product Owner (CSPO) preferred

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • Product Owner Industry certification (CSPO or CSM) practitioner knowledge of Agile and Scrum preferred
  • Experience with Nostro and Suspense reconciliation and accounting principals
  • Experience with SWIFT MT payment message types and ISO2002
  • Experience with systems such as Murex v3 preferred
