An assistant professor in pathology teaches university classes in their specialized field of pathology, which can be clinical, anatomical, forensic, dermatopathology, and surgical, among others.

They may either teach pathology courses to undergraduate or undergraduate students at universities or colleges.


Much like any other type of professor, the duties of an assistant professor in pathology revolve around preparing lesson plans, delivering lectures, administering activities, and assessing students using tests and assignments.

They may also facilitate laboratory activities as well as participate in research programs within their field. Many assistant professors are also committee members, which entails additional duties.


The basic requirement to become an assistant professor in pathology is a degree in physiology, anatomy, medicine, or biology, usually a doctorate or master's degree.

Professors are also required to have teaching licenses. Moreover, they must prove that they are capable of proper classroom management before they can secure a position.
