Job Overview:
As a CNC Lathe Setter/Operator in SneKa Engineering, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate operation of CNC lathes to produce high-quality machined parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
This role involves setting up machines, selecting and installing appropriate tooling, and monitoring the machining process to ensure precision and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup:
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to understand machining requirements.
- Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices on the CNC lathe.
- Input program codes or modify existing CNC programs to meet job requirements.
Machine Operation:
- Load materials into the CNC lathe and secure them in place.
- Start and monitor the CNC lathe to ensure proper operation.
- Adjust machine settings (speed, feed, and tool offsets) as needed for optimal performance.
- Monitor the machining process, making adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct inprocess inspections to verify that machined parts meet quality standards.
- Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to check dimensions.
- Make necessary adjustments to correct deviations from specifications.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathes, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, making adjustments or repairs as necessary.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of machine setup, tool changes, and production runs.
- Document any issues or deviations from the production plan.
- Provide input for continuous improvement of machining processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Setter/Operator in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of CNC programming.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
