    Overview:

    As anAcademic Counselor you will play a crucial role in providingguidance and support to students helping them navigate theiracademic journey and achieve success. Your role is pivotal inaddressing students academic and personal challenges ultimatelycontributing to their overall growth anddevelopment.

    KeyResponsibilities:

    • Provide academicadvising and counseling to students on course selection degreerequirements and career pathways
    • Assiststudents in developing educational plans and setting academicgoals
    • Conduct oneonone sessions to addressstudents academic personal and careerconcerns
    • Facilitate workshops and seminars onstudy skills time management and academic successstrategies
    • Collaborate with faculty and staffto monitor students progress and identify atriskindividuals
    • Assess students strengthsweaknesses and interests to provide tailored academicguidance
    • Stay updated on university policiesprocedures and academic resources to accurately advisestudents
    • Support students in accessing academicsupport services and resources
    • Participate inorientation programs and academic events to engage and informstudents
    • Document and maintain accurate recordsof counseling sessions and studentinteractions
    • Collaborate with career servicesto assist students in exploring internship and jobopportunities
    • Contribute to the development andenhancement of academic counseling programs andmaterials
    • Respond to inquiries from prospectivestudents and provide information on academic programs andadmissions
    • Stay informed about current trendsand issues in higher education andcounseling
    • Adhere to ethical standards andconfidentiality guidelines in all counselinginteractions

    RequiredQualifications:

    • Bachelors degree inCounseling Education Psychology or relatedfield
    • Proven experience in academic advisingcounseling or student services
    • Strongunderstanding of academic programs degree requirements andeducational pathways
    • Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills
    • Ability to empathizemotivate and inspire students towards academicsuccess
    • Knowledge of counseling techniquesassessment tools and student developmenttheories
    • Familiarity with academic supportresources learning assistance programs and student successinitiatives
    • Ability to work collaborativelywith diverse students faculty and staff
    • Strongorganizational and time managementabilities
    • Proficiency in relevant computerapplications and student informationsystems
    • Commitment to upholding ethicalstandards and confidentiality incounseling
    • Understanding of diversity equityand inclusion in higher education
    • Ability toadapt to change and thrive in a fastpaced academicenvironment
    • Certification or licensure incounseling or related field is aplus
