    Description

    About the Role:

    Shyft is an early-stage global health tech platform. We combine lifestyle management solutions (Nutrition, Yoga, Exercise, and more) with technology to help our customers track, reverse and manage chronic health conditions. We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer (Python) to join our team for a 3-month internship. As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our backend infrastructure, integrating OpenAI models, and fine-tuning them for our health and wellness applications.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend infrastructure using Python and relevant technologies.
    • Train and integrate OpenAI models into our applications, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
    • Fine-tune OpenAI models for specific health and wellness use cases, utilizing your expertise in prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
    • Develop and implement APIs, data pipelines, and data processing workflows to support our applications.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including tech, product, and design, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring high uptime and reliability of our backend systems.
    • Participate in code reviews, contribute to the development of technical documentation, and maintain a high level of coding standards.

    Skills Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Strong proficiency in Python programming language, with experience in backend development.
    • Expertise with OpenAI models, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering and integration.
    • Expertise in prompt engineering, with the ability to craft effective prompts for OpenAI models.
    • Familiarity with relevant technologies such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
    • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
    • Proficiency in cloud-based services such as AWS or Google Cloud.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
