JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • The Database Administrator is responsible for the day‐today DB management operations which include, building, maintaining, administering, and supporting the critical database infrastructure. In addition, the DBA is responsible for securing the data by managing access and privileges and installing system updates and/or security patches.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Design and implementation of robust, scalable, and efficient database systems.
  • Design, monitor, and maintain data replication between the primary and secondary databases. Monitor server availability, scheduled jobs, clustering, replication, and failover.
  • Perform Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence tasks including dimensional data modeling, reporting, data migration, and integration.
  • Develop, implement, manage and test database backup and recovery plans.
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of appropriate database systems standards, policies, and support procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum Requirements: _
  • Should have a solid working knowledge of database administration methodologies and techniques, with a good understanding of logical and physical database design principles.
  • Has 5 or more years of database administration experience working with various DB management systems and products such as MySQL, MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of performance monitoring, analysis, and tuning.
  • Experience in implementing database solutions including high availability in the cloud (e.g. Google, AWS, Azure)
  • Desired Skills: _
  • Good understanding of, or preferably ITIL Foundation certified. Other Database related certification is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer focus, and ability to work with both technical and nontechnical people.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical thinking in resolving problems and documenting solutions.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and as part of a team, provide support to other team members when required.
  • Familiarity in administering databases such as MySQL, MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • Experience in implementing database solutions including high availability in the cloud (e.g. Google, AWS, Azure)
  • Experience in data warehousing and reports, replication of large and complex databases, and ETL concepts.
  • Basic knowledge in troubleshooting network connections and network administration

Skills:


  • SQL, Oracle, Java, C++, C#, PHP, MySQL.NET
  • Designing database structures and tables
  • Creating database automation
  • Developing functions, views, and stored procedures
  • Excellent understanding of database principles, structures, theories, and practices
  • Strong SQL development skills
