Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and implement sexed semen product optimization with the support of the global Biosystems Engineering R&D team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance breedspecific Sexcel product performance across multiple lntelliGen labs in India.
  • Develop and implement assays and SOPs as required for deployments and unit tenders in India.
  • Understand the relationship between the sperm cell and its environment using functional assays from the molecular and protein level through wholecell sperm physiology.
  • Maintain expert knowledge in reproductive biology and proficiency in stateoftheart cellular and biochemical analysis techniques.
  • Maintain accurate experimental data and analysis records, effectively communicate results.
  • Foster a scientific environment that challenges assumptions and strives for concrete answers.
  • Develop experimental plans that can be carried out by oneself or others.
  • Develop stakeholder alignment on project requirements and execute in compliance with project portfolio and data management pipelines.
  • Develop root cause analysis and solution strategies for process improvement challenges encountered by the IntelliGen labs and maximize output and efficiency through continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate and work with other Scientists and staff within the Reproductive Biology research team as well as working collaboratively with other Genus teams (for example, IntelliGen Technologies, ABS commercial IVF labs, ABS and PIC Product Development, and R&D Trait Development, Genome Science, Bioengineering, and Data Science), and external collaborators to advance the mission of Genus.
  • Support established organizational objectives by developing relevant goals and strategies.
  • Actively work with the Project Manager and Genus R&D team in the decisionmaking process for Reproductive Biology research projects and ensure assigned project timelines are met.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, interfacing across R&D, regulatory, product development, legal, IP, production operations, and commercial teams.
  • Ensure that the image of Genus R&D always remains professional and will maintain professional verbal and written communications with coworkers, internal and external collaborators, and vendors.
  • Adapt and be flexible with job responsibilities and consistently strives to be an effective team member.
  • Strive to advance skills and displays a willingness to accept future development. Actively participate in Company training opportunities to further develop applicable skills.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the Company's business and the department's role within the company.

Requirements:


  • Advance Degree (PhD) in Animal Science, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Veterinary Science, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years post PhD or MS with a minimum of six (6) years' experience
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of research laboratory operations
  • Demonstrated ability to implement research plans and achieve results
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, experience with statistical software like JMP or OriginLab
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally if needed.
