We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Global Mobility team in the role of Global Immigration Advisor


The Global Immigration team sits within Global Mobility and provides advice, guidance and governance around immigration requirements relating to migration within HSBC.

Through risk management, expert immigration insight and business advisory services, Global Immigration supports HSBC's ability to move talent across borders where and when the business demands


The Opportunity:


  • The Immigration Advisor role is critical in supporting the Immigration Team to implement an effective immigration compliance framework within the Bank.
  • The Immigration Advisor will support the Head of Group Immigration Management in the deployment of the global immigration framework.
  • The role holder will take ownership of and advise on global immigration policy, and work with the immigration vendor and local HSBC teams to ensure that there are robust internal processes and procedures in place to facilitate compliance with local legislative and regulatory immigration requirements.
  • The role holder will provide project management support within the global mobility team on ad hoc projects.
  • The Global Immigration Advisor will respond to general queries from employees on immigration issues, and will liaise with the immigration vendor, as required.

What you'll do:


The Global Immigration Advisor will support the Head of Group Immigration Management in the development of immigration policy, end-to-end HR processes, interfaces with other HR and HSBC processes designed to mitigate immigration risk and enhance the employee experience.


The core accountabilities include:

  • Updating HSBC immigration policy in line with local legislative changes
  • Liaising with immigration vendor regarding general immigration queries and issues
  • Assisting with global immigration escalation resolution including information gathering and ensuring that all immigration processes run smoothly for relocating employees
  • Liaising with immigration country coordinators on immigration questions and escalations
  • Liaising with immigration country coordinators and vendor to ensure immigration processes are consistent with Global Immigration policy and in line with local country nuances
  • Aligning immigration procedures into Service Delivery embedding consistent operational execution
  • Standardising processes to comply with immigration and reporting requirements and align to other HR processes for the benefit of immigration compliance
  • Assisting with ad hoc queries and/or issues (e.g., remote working, business travel, reporting) as they arise
Requirements


What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Experience of working in Global Mobility (in-house or Big 4) role for at least 4 to 6 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with good attention to detail
  • Proven analytical skills (via Microsoft excel/PowerPoint experience)
  • Willing to work shift pattern
  • Ability to proactively interpret data and provide well constructed recommendations

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework, whilst not necessarily the intricacies of the immigration law.
  • Understanding of technology environment/landscape
