Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on PostgreSQL database migrations.
  • Proficiency in AWS services, including AWS RDS, EC2, and DMS, with expertise in configuring them for PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong SQL and scripting skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of PostgreSQL database management, optimization, and best practices.
  • Experience in pointintime recovery and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills for database and operational tasks.
  • Knowledge of AWS and PostgreSQL security practices and compliance standards.
  • Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • AWS Certification in relevant areas.
  • Experience with other AWS services and technologies.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for PostgreSQLbased database management and migration.
  • Expertise in automation tools and frameworks

Key Responsibilities:


AWS Database Migration:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing PostgreSQL databases and plan and execute migrations to AWS, utilizing services like AWS RDS, EC2, and DMS.


Migration Planning:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a comprehensive migration plan within the AWS environment for PostgreSQL databases. Detail the scope, timeline, and resources required for a successful migration.


Data Migration:

Execute data migration processes, ensuring PostgreSQL data is securely transferred to AWS, employing AWS DMS or other relevant tools while maintaining PostgreSQL database integrity.


Testing and Validation:
Conduct rigorous testing of the migrated PostgreSQL databases on AWS to ensure data accuracy and performance. Address any issues or discrepancies promptly.


AWS Resource Optimization:

Optimize PostgreSQL database performance within AWS, including proper configuration of AWS RDS, EC2, and other relevant services, tailored for PostgreSQL.


PostgreSQL Expertise:
Leverage your deep knowledge of PostgreSQL to fine-tune the database, optimize queries, and implement best practices.


Database Recovery:

Implement and manage point-in-time recovery processes for PostgreSQL databases, ensuring data consistency and minimizing data loss in case of failures.


Disaster Recovery Testing:
Plan, execute, and regularly test disaster recovery procedures to verify data recovery readiness and improve recovery time objectives.


Automation:
Develop and maintain automation scripts and processes to streamline routine database tasks, monitoring, and recovery procedures.


Security and Compliance:

Implement and ensure AWS and PostgreSQL-specific security measures and compliance with relevant data regulations during the migration process within the AWS environment.


Documentation:

Maintain detailed documentation of the AWS and PostgreSQL migration process, configurations, procedures, recovery strategies, and automation scripts for future reference.


Monitoring and Support:

Continuously monitor the performance of PostgreSQL databases on AWS, provide support for post-migration issues, and proactively identify areas for improvement.
