PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Under the leadership of a Mechanical Lead Engineer, the Mechanical Engineer will oversee basic & detail engineering activities for Air Pollution Control equipment and systems, vendors technical documents evaluation & drawings validation (datasheets, specifications & design criteria, equipment detail drawings ) for a specific project, with respect to the delivery schedule & budget.
He / She will coordinate his discipline engineering activities with other disciplines, project management & procurement team or engineering team in Business Units.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AREA (KRA)
Under the leadership of a Subject Matter Expert (SME), Mechanical Lead Engineer, prepare the basic design preparation for Air Pollution Control equipment and systems, and validate the related technical documents & drawings, with respect to the project schedule:
- study of the contractual design input, & reference documents (if available),
- coordinate interfaces with other disciplines (Process, E&IC, Plant, Piping ),
- organise design review if required,
- assist Procurement Dept. on vendors technical evaluation, and review of vendors detail drawings
- technical support and coordination during fabrication, equipment inspection & erection stages.
- Accountable for Quality reviews, control & checking for deliverables under his responsibility on project. Ensure compliance to Standards & Codes mentioned in the contract.
- Responsible to execute the activities within the project schedule / milestones and the budgeted man-hours.
- Assist Project Management in technical discussions with Customer.
- Participate on development of documentation of technical base, including standards & codes, and provide guidance for discipline work. Assist Discipline Manager for the continuous improvement and deployment of working procedures, best practices and projects feedback.
- Provide assistance to Tendering Support team to prepare technical specifications and datasheet, and review customer specification and scope of work during proposal development.
- Develop technical collaboration with other BU locations for his project.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & COMPETENCIES:
- Graduate or Post-graduate in Mechanical Engineering required.
years experiences in Design & Engineering of Air Pollution Control equipment and systems for Iron &Steel/Power/Mineral Beneficiation/Non-Ferrous sectors and experiences in International Environment for engineering execution.
- Knowledge of International and Indian Standards related to Mechanical static & rotary equipment (IS, ASME NFPA/VDI, ACGIH, DIN, EURO )
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English.
- Ability to execute and monitor project activities in a timely and cost-effective manner, and to impart knowledge in a clear and concise manner.
- Must be capable to travel to project sites, client offices, supplier factories and other locations throughout the globe.
