RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (SURVEYS)

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy (MCFME) at IIM Ahmedabad is hiring a
full time Research Associate (RA) to provide data and research support for a nation-wide survey
on the various parameters with respect to the business environment in each state and the factors
that affect the investment attractiveness. Duties include, but are not limited to, collaborating on
research design, conducting surveys, data analysis, interpreting results, and drafting and editing
manuscripts and presentations. Research associates are involved in all stages of the research process
and are expected to work independently within the scope of their responsibilities.

The position will start from June 15, 2023, and will be based at the Misra Centre for Financial
Markets and Economy at IIM Ahmedabad.

Experience Required

Should have experience working on large data sets - cleaning, data integrity checks, data
scraping and analysis - and conducting surveys.

Knowledge and understanding of federal and state level sources of data and information
across a wide spectrum of areas related to investments, infrastructure, environment, labour,
and movement of goods.

Experience in survey design and thorough knowledge of research methods and best
practices for conducting surveys.

Excellent writing and data presentation skills; detailed report writing skills.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Applicant must have a master's degree or PhD in economics, Econometrics, or related
fields (from top-tier institutions) with outstanding grades.

in computer science, Engineering, or Data Science with at least 2 years of relevant
experience.

Applicants must have strong quantitative analysis skills and sound knowledge of data and
econometric methods.

Experience and knowledge of various survey programming software (e.g., Surveymonkey,
SawTooth) is desirable.

Applicants must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills (both written and
oral) and should be able to work in a team environment.

Excellent time management skills, high attention to detail and with a proven ability to
meet deadlines.

Duration

This is a multi-year position offered initially for one year beginning June 2023. Extension will be
based on performance.

Salary

Compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience.

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy (MCFME) at IIM Ahmedabad facilitates
research on contemporary issues related to financial markets within the overall economic
framework, and disseminates knowledge via seminars, conferences, media outreach, and more. The
Centre produces and manages financial and economic databases, such as the Business Inflation
Expectation Survey (BIES), IIMA-SFarmsIndia Agri Land Price Index (ISALPI), IIMA-AuraArt
Indian Art (Price) Index (IAIAI), and others, which are widely used to provide insights into the
financial markets and the Indian economic scenario.
