Lathe operators have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:- Maintaining safety standards by following OSHA rules and regulations
- Monitoring machine performance to ensure that they are operating normally
- Following safety procedures and protocols to minimize hazards
- Communicating with other workers to coordinate work flow
- Operating lathes to turn metal pieces using hand tools and computerassisted controls
- Installing new parts and other components in machinery where needed
- Recording operational data such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut
- Performing routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery running smoothly
- Preparing materials for use on machinery by cutting, shaping, and drilling them
Job Types:
