Description

Part of our Engineering Process and Tools Division, the position will be in our site in Hyderabad (India), and will report to the Site Documentation Manager.**
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & CHALLENGES

  • The Technical Documentation (DoT)
Engineer maintains and controls released product and project technical documentation in compliance with ISO 9001:2000 requirements.

  • The Technical Documentation (DoT)
Engineer ensures document metadata integrity.

  • As the center of all technical product and project documentation, Technical Documentation Engineer also serves as the technical contact point for obtaining or receiving all technical documentation. For example, between Engineering and Procurement for external subsuppliers and between Engineering and Project Management for joint venture, partners and clients, managing information flow in and out of Engineering, also ensures external distribution of data and documents and it provides support in the preparation of transmittals and copies.
  • To ensure that relevant versions of applicable documents are available at points of use.
  • To ensure integrity of data and the maintenance of rules, classification, numbering & naming conventions.

Department shall ensure that product and project documents of external origin are identified, and their distribution controlled (in support of ISO9001:2000 Clause 4.2.3 f).


  • Support Document Preparation and Distribution
  • The Technical Documentation (DoT)
Engineer supports document preparation and distribution.

These responsibilities include the following activities:

  • Create contract and project specific templates.
  • Report on the Status of Technical Documentation (DoT) Engineer controlled documentation. e.g. Weekly review/report of external documentation, Monthly progress reports, Manage and maintain distribution lists to control access to proprietary documents, & ensure distribution lists uptodate.
  • Ensure processes to approve documents for adequacy prior to use are followed (in support of ISO9001:2000 Clause 4.2.3 a).

Document Legibility and Identification
The Technical Documentation (DoT)

Engineer shall ensure that documents remain legible and readily identifiable (in support of ISO9001:2000 Clause 4.2.3 e)


The responsibilities include:

  • Establish framework for and maintain identity numbering (project number/customer number )
  • Ensure attribute and metadata integrity.
  • Establish framework for classification, standards, attributes.
  • Maintain all templates.
  • Support and enforce document standardization.

Control of External Documents
Technical Documentation (DoT)


Department shall ensure that product and project documents of external origin are identified, and their distribution controlled (in support of ISO9001:2000 Clause 4.2.3 f).


Control of Supplier/Partner/Customer documentation includes:

  • Configuration control (identity number, version control, recording and tracking within the documentation management system)
  • Transmittals
  • Controlled electronic and hardcopy distribution of documents
  • Maintenance of location and status of documents (storage repository, archiving)

Electronic Control and Storage of Documents


Ensure the documents are stored electronically in a PDM / PLM system, control and management is automatic and ensuring the integrity of the data and the maintenance of rules, classification, numbering and naming conventions.


Technical Documentation Engineer controls the master file and source files for released product and project documents where an electronic system is not in place.


Storage of Documentation

  • Maintain Archives, Obsolete Document.
  • Ensure Industry Standards, Standards Parts & Components Management.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge:


  • Education: Graduate in Engineering (Mechanical) with 38 years' work experience in rolling Stock, automotive.
  • Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role).
  • Min. 4 Years as a Tools and Documentation engineer.
  • Specialized or crossfunctional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role.
  • Support and Training:
  • Templates use and document management.
  • Project specific documentation Release process.
  • Intellectual/proprietary awareness.
  • Documentation Security and Data Integrity
