Peraton is seeking a driven and motivated Chief of Operations - Task Manager to join our team at an Air Force Satellite Control Network station in Diego Garcia to support our Department of Defense customer.

You will be part of a team that provides 24x7 support for the operation, control, and maintenance of mission critical United States Department of Defense and some non-DoD satellites, including continual execution of Telemetry, Tracking & Commanding (TT&C) operations.

In addition, they provide early orbit launch support while satellites are in initial or transfer orbits and require commanding to maneuver to their final orbit.


This position requires 24/7 support, via 12-hour shifts. Travel is mínimal and only for training purposes.

What you'll do...

  • Oversee the operational activities at an Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Remote Tracking Station (RTS); a 24x7 work force of operations and maintenance (O&M) technicians working with RF, digital telecommunications, encryption and networking systems
  • Drive the O&M activities including readiness, training, exercises, rehearsals, and all scheduled satellite pass supports
  • Ensure work assignments are consistent and meets satellite program requirements
  • Ensure proficiency of all operations personnel, proper position staffing and operator response to pass support requirements and directions. Ensure that all RTS personnel are trained and certified in accordance with established procedures.
  • Verify maintenance activities are properly scheduled, performed and documented. Use the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) to schedule, document and track maintenance activities, to include unscheduled equipment failures and preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs). Coordinate authorized service interruptions (ASIs or "down time") with customers and AFSCN schedulers to perform PMIs
  • Verify proper logistics support for the site's maintenance activities, to include ready spares as allotted, proper tools and test equipment available, and parts ordering processes run fluidly on site and quickly respond to needs. Oversee and verify inventories of spares, supplies, tools and equipment, and verify proper and accurate updates to applicable inventory documentation
  • Identify the need for processes and process improvements to operations and maintenance activities. Develop and review operations compliance related instructions, procedures and policies for accuracy, relevance and completeness
  • Oversee the use of these processes; updating them to employ more efficient and effective use of time and resources
  • Be key advisor to Station Manager and Government personnel on the status of support capability and proficiency of operations personnel with emphasis on actual and potential problems
  • Establish operations measurement techniques to verify standardized and effective operations. Ensure operational policies and programs to ensure the site capability will meet all requirements for AFSCN mission support. The COO is responsible to develop and recommend process improvements that ensure that mission success is maintained and improved with current and future satellite pass requirements
  • Ensure personnel comply with contractor conduct and training requirements. Verify personnel are trained to participate in all host base, 50 SW or higher exercises. Coordinate personnel schedules to complete operations certifications along with maintenance qualification training activities for the Station Manager and Chief of Support
  • You may be assigned additional duties i.e. safety, security, COMSEC, etc. as required
  • Monitor and manage maintenance activities for AFSPC MUE

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • An Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma plus six (6) years' experience; OR an Associate's Degree and four (4) years of experience in communications/electronics operation and maintenance support
  • Six (6) years' experience in operations and maintenance of communications and electronics equipment
  • Six (6) years' experience associated with the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Remote Tracking Stations (RTS)
  • The Ability to obtain certifications on all required operational and PMI duties
  • Valid US Tourist Passport
  • Willingness to work shifts

Desired Qualifications:


  • Have PTS certifications on all required operational and maintenance duties for assigned work center
  • Experience with electronics repair experience and space systems experience
  • Have demonstrated experience of ethical leadership
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels
