To be successful as Technology Architect for the People domain

  • You have proven advanced education in information technology, computer science or equivalent.
  • We believe you have a minimum of 7 years of experience in information/data and technology architecture ideally in People Domain where you have had proven a responsibility for the architecture of a domain that is stretching across multiple business capabilities and technologies and in a coexistence with legacy.
  • You have working experience with SAP SF, Workforce management, Cloud Service Integration and other connected technology solutions supporting backoffice functions such as people master data, Performance & succession, Benefits & Payroll, Talent management, People Planning, Analytics/BI, integration and Data model design.
  • You have a proven track record in architecting and implementing solutions in those areas and in optimizing them. You have preferably worked in the areas of solution, technology and Technology architecture in the overall context.
  • In addition, we also believe you have deep understanding in Enterprise Architecture and how to keep an architecture together across areas in the Technology landscape within in the retail business. Equally so how to modernize the existing legacy estate and put new infrastructure enablers in place that unlocks speed and flexibility.
We see that you have a strategic and holistic mindset being able to define the future state of the Core Digital Infrastructure architecture as well as:

  • Influence decisions at several levels the company
  • from Sub-domain to Engineer
  • Drive architecture work for an area of the technology landscape coexisting legacy and digital products
  • Develop architectures for massive internet scale
  • Solve deep technical problems in a landscape transforming with several business models
  • Drive common purpose across diverse stakeholders
  • Set long term strategic direction and manage its tradeoffs
  • Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, omnichannel and retailing
  • Experience in agile development practices
  • Experience having worked with domain architecture in a product and engineering organization.

Your responsibilities


As a Technology Architect, you will develop the technology architecture landscape across IKEA and be part of setting the course with sound engineering/architecture through principles and standards that enable guidance for teams.

By influencing decisions across multiple levels, you make sure to set and drive the future architecture across both legacy and new products (at scale).

Your personality allows you to balance common purpose amongst a diverse set of stakeholders to ensure reaching both short
- and long-term goals.


In this role You are:

  • Responsible to drive and develop the infrastructure architecture in areas of Core Digital Infrastructure ensuring its architecture fits together in the overall Technology domain context and the total landscape
  • Responsible for defining the future architecture direction for in areas in the Core Digital Infrastructure, the coexistence with legacy, defining boundaries of capabilities and where to implement what
  • Resolve architecture topics in significant landscape changes affecting the subdomain
  • Provide the architecture perspective on prioritizations in a subdomain context, its consequences and impact to reach the Subdomain strategies and outcomes
  • Drive and develop to the architecture roadmap view for the subdomain as well as drive the execution
  • Develop the Enterprise Architecture practices, and architecture guardrails used in our product teams.
  • You participate in acquisition activities including technical guidance and assessments from a technology landscape perspective
