Job Description:
An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision exams, surgical procedures, and the management of eye diseases and disorders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams to diagnose eye diseases, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration
  • Develop treatment plans for eye diseases and disorders, which may include medication, surgery, or other therapies
  • Perform surgical procedures, such as LASIK, cataract surgery, and corneal transplants
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and other vision aids to improve patients' vision
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as optometrists, primary care physicians, and neurologists, to provide coordinated care to patients
  • Educate patients about proper eye care and vision hygiene
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patients

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of a residency program in ophthalmology
  • State license to practice medicine and ophthalmology
  • Strong knowledge of eye anatomy, visual perception, and ocular diseases
  • Excellent diagnostic and problemsolving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and other healthcare professionals
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical records
  • Willingness to continue education and stay current with advancements in ophthalmology

Working Conditions:
Ophthalmologists typically work in hospitals, clinics, or private practices. They may work long hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate patient schedules. Ophthalmologists may spend extended periods standing, bending, and performing surgical procedures.


Salary:
₹25, ₹75,000.00 per month

  • Patiala, Punjab: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
