APAC Markets and Securities Services Legal - Associate Counsel
Brief Description of Organization
Citi, the leading global financial services company, has some 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 100 countries, providing consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, and wealth management.
The team provides legal advisory and documentation support for fixed income, currency, rates, derivatives, commodities, futures & clearing, prime finance, equities sales and trading businesses, credit and loan trading, structured products and solutions businesses.
As a member of the Global Spread Products and Rates & Currencies Legal team, and working from Mumbai, India, the individual is to assist with legal coverage of rates, currencies, credit and loans trading, commercial real estate and asset financing, securitisation transactions and structured loans and products.
The person will report directly to a senior member of the Legal team for Global Spread Products or Rates and Currencies and be expected to cover all the requirements of the team (including providing advice on legal and regulatory matters, litigation management and regulatory/policy interpretation).
Specific areas of coverage include:
- assisting with credit and structured transactions and related documentation (e.g. ISDA) and other local market access products and commercial real estate financing deals;
- assisting with documentation reviews such as board resolutions/dealing mandates, non-disclosure agreements and on client document negotiation;
- advising on multi-jurisdiction regulatory requirements (including RBI and SEBI requirements in India);
- crypto-currency and digital-related matters;
- bank programs and structures incorporating environmental sustainability elements;
- product development and structures addressing capital adequacy and risk-weighted asset requirements; and
- actively fulfilling the One-Citi ethos by identifying and overcoming boundaries and working collaboratively with other Citi members.
Requirements:
- 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience
- Relevant experience in a law firm or financial institution
- Law degree from a wellestablished university
- Experience in rates, currencies and/or credit derivatives and comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices would be an advantage
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
- A strong team player who is confident, possesses initiative and the ability to prioritize, multitask and work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and interact with people of all levels and across regions
