Engineer (DBA - Postgres/MongoDB)

About this Job:

We're looking for a database administrator.

The individual in this role will be responsible for design, implementation and administration for our databases, as well as mentoring of lower level database administrators.

Rationale:

Responsibilities:

Provide support for, Postgres, and MongoDB Atlas
Adhere to change control procedures
Implement and monitor activities monitoring, backups, troubleshooting, security, user maintenance, reporting, migrations, upgrades, data copying, etc
Architect database solutions to optimally meet business needs
Shell scripting, stored procs, SQL, query tuning, etc
Execute company initiatives in the database space
Implement schema changes at direction of AppDev
Disaster recovery and database restoration
Recovery from backups
Automation of routine tasks

Qualifications

2 or more years of applicable database experience
Flexible work hours willingness to work different shifts as needed and attend occasional calls outside of normal work hours.
Some experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, and MongoDB Atlas. Willingness to learn the others
Understanding of database system concepts
ACID properties, normal forms, backup and recovery mechanisms, DDL vs DML, transaction logging, log shipping, etc
Basic understanding of cloud environments, preferably Azure and AWS
Data warehouse experience
A passion and energy for learning and improving. Willing to embrace change.
Excellent English communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface across crossfunctional technology teams and the business
B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field strongly preferred
