Fellow - Clinical Nutrition
Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern
parts of India and the neighbouring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations
in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre
Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained professional staff and equipped
with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. The hospital was
designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on
13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal.

with modern facilities and contemporary medical equipment. The Hospital, with a capacity of
437 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for
subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services
from diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institution's objective is
to excel in service, education and research.
The department of Clinical Nutrition in Tata Medical Center delivers evidence-based
individualized nutrition care to patients with cancer. This is an active department offering more
than 7500 consultations per year to patients diagnosed with all types of cancers at different
point of their treatment.
Two clinical nutritionists in the department deliver nutrition support to patients both in the in
- patient and out-patients setting on referral basis as per protocol. Nutrition assessment,
intervention and follow up are all documented on electronic hospital management system.
Nutritionists actively take part in intra-departmental teaching/ knowledge sharing sessions.
In 2017, one nutritionist has joined in Paediatric oncology department funded by Cankids for
paediatric onco-hematology patients.
ACIEVEMENTS:
Nearly 50,000 consultations were successfully done with evidence based clinical nutrition
intervention in last 10.5 years
The number of patients seen both in the in-patients and out-patients by clinical nutritionists has
tripled from 2012 to 2021
Multiple papers have been published in journals and different conferences
Clinical nutritionists are invited in different national and international meeting, CMEs
Actively participated in different teaching programs in hospitals - M.Sc. nursing, other nursing
training programs, diploma in OT technician course, meetings with different treating
departments

ELIGIBLITY:
BSc and MSc in Nutrition with 1-2 years of Clinical Experience
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Nutrition assessment, intervention and follow up of admitted oncology patients who are
referred by treating team as per protocol through HMS
Assessment and intervention of patients in the OPD and follow up
Attend and participate in academic activities at Tata Medical Center.
Participate in different activities related to departmental growth and development
