    Job Description:

    Our Lead DevOps Engineer - Service Reliability (SRE) will collaborate with key stakeholders and product owners to identify opportunities and drive the technical vision of the SRE team. Responsible for setting technical strategies to enhance operational excellence, improve performance, and efficiency of application workload and infrastructure with a broad impact on Assurant's products and platforms.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a thought leader in Service Reliability Engineering, Performance Engineering, and Capacity Management.
    • Collaborate with Engineering leadership to develop a strategy and roadmap for enhancing product performance and efficiency.
    • Create operational excellence roadmaps and promote best practices from design to delivery.
    • Propose innovative solutions for application resiliency and availability challenges.
    • Lead the design of reliability and performance debugging tools.
    • Utilize open-source technologies for capacity benchmarking and application tuning.
    • Make data-driven decisions on capacity needs, reliability, and availability.
    • Mentor and provide technical leadership to engineers.
    • Encourage a culture of sharing best practices and process improvement.
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

    Requirements:

    • Experience with Datadog and Dynatrace Application Monitoring (3+ years).
    • Proficiency in system design, architecture, and scaling principles.
    • Knowledge of service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs).
    • Expertise in a programming language like C#, SQL, or APIs.
    • Proficiency in a scripting language like PowerShell.
    • Deep understanding of compute resources in on-prem and cloud environments.
    • Experience with container orchestration, runtimes, and optimization.
    • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and cloud architecture.
    • Proficiency in application monitoring and profiling tools.
    • Understanding of computer science data structures and algorithms.

    Desirable Skills:

    • 10+ years of SRE experience.
    • 8+ years of architecture and design experience.
    • 4+ years of experience with a public cloud platform.
    • 6+ years with open-source frameworks including capacity modeling and auto-recovery tools.
