Governance Support Officer:
Job description
We're looking for a dedicated support officer to join our Governance Services team who are at the heart of the council in providing vital support to our political decision-making, regulatory and scrutiny processes so that our elected councillors take important decisions and are able to scrutinise the operation and performance of the Council effectively and in line with our policies and procedures, as well as the council's constitution and legislation.
From managing communications with colleagues, working with other stakeholders from organisations such as the NHS, supporting involvement of elected councillors and the public in our governance arrangements, gathering information and data, co-ordinating and preparing for committee and board meetings, and preparing reports and presentations we make everything tick.

What you'll be doing
You will be undertaking a range of activity that facilitates the operation of the City Council's governance processes.
You'll be offering specialist technical governance support and advice to elected members, council officers, partners, and other stakeholders which ensures they act in accordance with the constitution, law, and best practice.
You'll support effective stakeholder and public engagement in the governance, scrutiny, and decision-making processes of the Council.Your role will also include work associated with new initiatives, changing governing requirements, and service development projects. You'll represent the Council at meetings and committees, and will support customer/client management as well as other engagement activity.
What you'll need
You'll have experience of working in a role which supports organisational governance, and you'll have a thorough approach to your work, with the ability to write clearly, and to be able to meet strict deadlines.
**Interviews will take place week commencing 4th or 11th December 2023
