The role:

***The Driver / Office Assistant will provide driving services to diplomats, staff, officials and visitors. The Driver / Office Assistant will also support other routine office administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, managing couriers, providing services to external visitors and escorting visitors to and from offices. This position requires a self-motivated, outcomes-driven individual with a commitment to contribute and communicate as a team player, preferably in an international environment.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

› Performing driving duties.

› Supporting Austrade's Corporate Services team with administrative services.


Duties include
***- Driving diplomats, staff, officials, and visitors in Austrade's vehicle as required

  • Maintaining vehicles in a clean and roadworthy condition
  • Carrying out minor maintenance to vehicles and conducting daily checks such as oil, water and tyres
  • Inspecting vehicles for minor defects and promptly report damage to the Corporate Service Adviser
  • Ensuring vehicle registrations and insurances are kept up to date and preparing appropriate documentation
  • Delivering letters, goods, personal effects and packages; managing courier services
  • Participating in afterhours duties, as required
  • Supporting the Corporate Service Adviser with office administrative processes
  • Assisting the Corporate Service Adviser with facility management duties and client activity coordination (organisation of meetings and venues) for visits and events, including assisting with program preparation and event set up, as well as ensuring the general cleanliness and orderliness of the office
  • Ensuring strong working relationship with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and other Australian Government agencies
  • Using internal databases and knowledge management systems to support work
  • Working as part of an Austrade team and maintaining standards and policies, including workplace diversity, ethical practice and occupational health and safety principles and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Assist in making tea/coffee for guests including cleaning of the pantry.
