Tentworks IO is a bootstrapped studio founded in 2016.

We are working on an in-house strategy game for PC and consoles and looking for a talented Game Designer to join our team in Bengaluru, India.

Our mission is to create a sense of nostalgia for strategy game fans and combine it with modern gameplay sensibilities to create an engaging and fun experience


This role will be responsible for creating feature specifications, coming up with gameplay mechanics and designing systems for existing features.

They will be part of a small design team and work closely with the lead game designer.

They will collaborate with the concept/art (2D, 3D) / animation team to create features that are in line with the vision and emotional experience of the game as defined by our creative director.


Responsibilities:


  • Create concepts for new and innovative gameplay mechanics
  • Write clear and concise feature specifications (GDDs)
  • Describing core game loop, surfacing, tutorial, audio/visual feedback, etc.
  • Incorporate feedback from the design lead
  • Collaborate with art (2D, 3D) and animation teams while they create assets as per defined specifications
  • Coordinate with the development team as they develop the feature/gameplay mechanic
  • Implement gameplay by collaborating with developers or by configuring the necessary parameters inside the game engine (Unity IDE)
  • Create the gameplay scenario, missions, quests, etc.
  • Tune the system design parameters (balancing)
  • Playtest the game after each feature implementation
  • Iterate on design as needed with the playtest feedback

Requirements:


  • Good experience working as a game designer
  • Strategy games is a plus
  • Premium games is a plus
  • PC / Console game is a plus
  • Experience working on popular game engines
  • Unity / Unreal / Godot is a plus
  • Ability to script / prototype mechanics and gameplay
  • C# is a plus
  • Experience working on system design and balancing
  • Knowledge of advanced formulae on Excel / Google sheet is a plus
  • Knowledge of how to simulate player behavior is a plus
  • Knowledge of how to model gameplay systems/economies is a plus
  • Pitch and convey ideas to crossfunctional teams
  • Able to collaborate with them and take feedback
  • Keeps up to date with trends in game design/development
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of game mechanics is a plus
  • Playing strategy games actively is a plus
