    Description

    The Data Science & AI Head will play an important role in strategizing, architecting, and delivering Data Science Solutions across the Value Chain especially Drug Discovery and Development in an Agile and Platform / Product-centric way with a vision to drive Data Science / AI driven transformation for Tangible Business Value Creation

    Candidate would be expected to independently/with minimal supervision :

    • Develop Data and end to end Data Science Strategy for complete Value Chain to drive the vision of Data Driven & AI / ML enabled Transformation
    • Work cross-functionally with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, Pharmacology, ADME/Toxicology, CADD, Digital X and other functions within interdisciplinary drug discovery teams
    • Experience in a wide range of computational chemistry techniques including similarity searching, SAR modeling, molecule enumeration, ligand-protein modeling and the application of modern machine learning tools to key problems in chemistry, biology, and drug design.
    • Champion and actively promote the use of Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, Data Analytics and AI/ML methods to expedite the Design-Make-Test-Analyze discovery cycle
    • Evaluate emerging computational and drug modalities and their application to drug discovery workflows
    • Identify and Build Use Cases for Monetization of Research Data in the form of Data enabled Services
    • Facilitate PoCs for potential use-cases by identify the appropriate modelling technique and use Machine Learning and Deep Learning to develop / supervise development of self-correcting models and algorithms across the Business Value Chain
    • Provide guidance for the Architectural Design, Solution Planning and make architectural recommendations for On-premise / Cloud Platforms
    • Guide, supervise and train a team of Data Scientists using Agile, DevOps and Data Ops principles

    Build Data Science COE encompassing with special focus on Agile way of Data Science leveraging Cloud Platform and on-premise tools

    • Partner closely with Business stakeholders across Drug Discovery, Drug Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, HR and Finance for identifying business use cases to drive data driven decisions across the Value chain to drive tangible Value Creation in terms of Revenue, Cost and Productivity improvement
    • Design solutions that make the best use of the Cloud platform and Data Infrastructure comprising Big Data, Search/log analytics, Data Warehousing, Streaming and Data Lake etc.
    • Support the architecting of data warehouses / data lakes etc. with big data technologies such as Spark, Python and Kafka on Public or Private Cloud platform. Support consumption of the provisioned data through governance mechanisms and compliance initiatives
    • Ensuring Partnering and Collaboration with Product Managers, Solution Architects and Service teams to accelerate adoption of Data Science to industrialize AI / ML models and conduct rapid and iterative prototyping of minimum viable solutions

    Operating Network

    Internal: CDO, Business Engagement Team, Business Stakeholders – BU Heads, Functional Heads and their teams; IT Delivery Teams including SAP, Digital, Data Science Infra & Security

    External: Digital Ecosystem partners – Academia, Start-ups, Digital Giants, AI-Technology Platform Providers, Technology Solution & Service Providers, Consulting Firms, Independent Research Firms, Capability Building Partners, Industry Peers

    Contemporary Skills: Must have good knowledge of Agile Methodologies, Design Thinking, User Experience, Platform Business Models and Digital Technologies

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Ph D in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biophysics, Bioinformatics or related field
    • impactful contributions to small-molecule drug discovery programs as exemplified by publications and/or patents/patent applications.
    • in Data Science / AI / ML from a Premier Institute is required. Doctorate in Data Science with focus on Drug Discovery is an added advantage
    • in Big Data Technologies Analytics Cloud Platform (AWS / Azure) is an added advantage

    Experience Required:

    • 15 years of work experience in Data Science / Advanced Analytics, experience in creating organization wide capabilities in Data Sciences preferably in Life Sciences / CRO / CDMO / Pharma setups
    • 10 years+ of relevant drug hunting experience
    • Expertise in cheminformatic and bioinformatic data analysis and large-scale data handling
    • 5 to 8 years of experience in Experience in statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
    • Experience in Cloud Service Operations of AWS / Azure especially in Analytics area
    • Experience in leveraging Partner Ecosystem and building hybrid teams with partners to deliver the work, operations etc., and productizing Data Science solutions
    • Application Development background along with knowledge of Analytics libraries, open-source Natural Language Processing, statistical and big data computing libraries
    • Experience in working with Service-oriented Architectures, APIs and in deploying services into containerized orchestration environments such as Kubernetes
    • Familiarity with Visualization and Reporting Tools like Power BI, Tableau and Qlik Sense
    • Experience in Platforms / Product-centric Agile Development
