Location : Madurai

Purpose of the position:
Responsible for providing outpatient psychological therapy to patient.


SUMMARY:

  • Provides Individual/family counseling related to crisis intervention, chemical dependency, rating disorders, impact of disability/disease in patient and family-situational disturbance / stress / dysfunction.
  • Provides psychological services for a variety of multi (specialty diagnostic treatment teams including: acting as liaison with appropriate referral sources and community agencies.
  • Acts as instructor for educational sessions on related topics.
  • Develops programs pertinent to psychological needs of patients.

Duties
& Responsibilities:


  • Interviews patient to obtain psychosocial history and conduct a psychosocial evaluation.
  • Evaluates data and establishes treatment plan that provides measurable benefits to patient in a quality-focused, user-friendly and cost-effective fashion.
  • If indicated by evaluation and treatment plan, engages in appropriate therapy within guidelines established in the department and/or by various managed care organizations with whom the department contracts for service.
  • Involves patient in identifying and understanding presenting symptoms and current difficulties using a variety of modalities, including individual and group therapy.
  • Assesses patient progress and modifies treatment plan accordingly.
  • Maintains documentation on all case records in accordance with stated guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in all departmental staff meetings, departmental /
administration meetings and maintains department policies, procedures and quality assurance standards.


  • Participates in multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Educates and communicates with other clinic departments, and consumer groups as requested.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required, including taking "call" as per departmental
policies and procedures.


  • Conducts psychological testing when clinically indicated or requested.

Academic & trades qualification:


Essential
M Phil in Clinical Psychology.


Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of counseling concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of how to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions.
  • Knowledge of instructional methodology.

Work experience & skills:


  • Prior experience in the mental health field or counseling. Instructional and public speaking experience.
  • Program development experience. Clinical experience in counseling with adults and families.

Skills:


  • Skill in facilitation for therapy and education.
  • Skill in communication and listening skills.
  • Skill In counseling diverse patients and families.

Personal qualities & behavioral traits:

Effective interactions, patience, kindness.

Negotiable
